A New Project among the First Batch of MOE “New Liberal Arts” Projects

Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) released the list of the first batch “New Liberal Arts” Projects. LUSM is honored to be among the list by the project titled “The Construction Practice for Management Education in the Approach of ‘New Liberal Arts’” led by Prof. HE Wensheng (hereafter as the Project).

In face of the emergence of new retail, logistics, and service forms in digital economy, the Project aims to improve students’ capabilities to solve practical problems, by probing into the integrated education mode of training compound management talents, forming updated curriculum combining experiment and practice together, and building interdisciplinary and multilevel teaching resource system. By such measures, it could be a feasible way to solve current issues existing in the education process, such as insufficient attention on practice courses, inadequate comprehensive abilities training, simple combination of digital technology, and lacking of coordinated training mechanism. The Project is seen as an exploration on the new form of “New Liberal Arts”, integrating programs of public administration, business administration, accounting and information technology, and taking shape of the cooperation with joint efforts form all stakeholders.

In total, 1012 projects are on the list, including 5 ones submitted by Lanzhou University. As for next steps, LUSM will place more efforts in the implementation of the Project, on the basis of the solid foundation of broad alumni network, successful experience of running programs under school-enterprise cooperation, and the full support from the faculty.
