Desertification prevention and control is a worldwide problem, which has long troubled the rural and grass-roots governments in China. Why did the "six old men" come forward? What were the twists and turns of desertification control? What help has the government given to the "six old men" in combating desertification? To seek desertification control methods, and sort out 40 years sand control process, the team spent almost five months, retraced President Xi’s visit route, investigated the sand control experience of three generations of "six old men", exploring the sand control mechanism with Chinese characteristics. They visited 12 places, interviewed 45 relevant personnel (with a total length of over 2200 minutes), recorded video of 296 minutes, made and posted three short videos, collected text materials of more than 100,000 words, and finally completed a case analysis report. During the period, the Wechat official account of the Communist Youth League of China column reported the investigation.

At the centenary of the founding of the CPC, four young students and party members went into the field, paying attention to national strategic issues such as ecological protection, poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, deeply studied the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets " through the project, and fully reflected the spirit of our students, who concern for the times they live and study diligently. The excellent results obtained this time are the periodic achievements of the school in building first-class disciplines and training innovative talents. In the future, the school will further inspire and guide students to start with specific cases, theorize and systematize practical problems, actively pay attention to public issues, deeply understand national conditions, and develop keen awareness for problems, scientific analysis ability and innovative thinking.
