The First New Business Competition of Higher Institutions in Gansu Province

On December 4th, the First New Business Competition of Higher Institutions in Gansu Province- “The Future of Data and Intelligence, Stimulating Operation” Invitational Tournament was successfully held in Lanzhou University. The activity was hosted by Gansu Committee of Teaching Guidance, Accreditation and Textbook Construction for Undergraduate Management Programs and Lanzhou University, organized by LUSM, co-organized by Lanzhou New Area Commerce Trade and Logistics Investment Group Co., Ltd and supported technically by First Software.

On the opening ceremony, Li Yumin, vice president of LZU introduced the development achievements of talent cultivation in Lanzhou University since its establishment, and pointed out that the world is facing great changes unseen in a century; a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial revolution are surging; the era of digital economy poses new challenges to traditional business education; how to keep up with the pace of the time to further optimize and innovate the talent training mode has become a common topic of talent training in higher institutions. Officials of the hosting, organizing and supporting unites delivered speeches on the ceremony.

The competition is open to undergraduate students, vocational students and MBA students in colleges and universities in Gansu Province, and is divided into undergraduate & vocational and MBA groups. Nearly 200 teachers and students formed 51 teams participated in the event. Three positions were set in the competition: digital operation, logistics supply chain and management accounting. Participants were required to simulate different roles, responsibilities and tasks, and use relevant tools to complete the corresponding practical operation competition according to the information and data provided by the competition platform.

4 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 5 third prizes are awarded to undergraduate and vocational student teams, 2 prizes for first, second and third places MBA teams were given. LUSM undergraduate teams have won 2 first prizes and MBA students, 1 first prize and 1 second prize.

During the event, the forum of construction of first-class new business programs in digital and intelligent era was held, which was chaired by Professor He Wensheng, dean of LUSM. Associate professor Zhao Yanhai and Wang Lei from LUSM and vice general manager of First Software shared their thoughts. The participants discussed the innovation and reform practice of training mode and digital curriculum in higher institutions in the province.

The competition is the first new business competition in Gansu Province, and has provided communication platforms for teachers and students, industry enterprises, higher education stakeholders and participants. It is not only a positive response to The Fifth Plenum of the 19th CPC Central Committee on the construction of digital China's major strategic plan, but a response to the urgent requirements of the current construction of new liberal arts, "using competition to promote learning, to promote teaching, to promote the combination of teaching and competition" and thus promote the teaching reform and development of management programs in colleges and universities.  During the preparation of the event, leadership of the Education Department of Gansu Province and the Education Steering Committee paid great attention to the activity. The organizing committee of the event, relevant departments of LZU, co-organizers and technical support parties made full cooperation, and universities gave strong support to actively overcome the adverse conditions during the pandemic, contributing to the complete success of the competition.
