Delegates of LUSM Attended AACSB 2023 Asia Pacific Annual Conference

From November 29 to December 1, 2023, the 2023 AACSB Asia Pacific Annual Conference, hosted by AACSB and organized by Doshisha University in Japan, was held in Osaka, Japan. Liu Yajun, Secretary of LUSM CPC Committee, Zheng Gang, deputy director of the department of organizational management of LUSM, were invited to attend.

Consisting of 2 keynote speeches and 12 breakout sessions, the Conference has gathered about 200 delegates from over 70 business schools and management schools sharing their insight and practical experiences of the frontier academic topics such as AI and its research and application, innovation and corporate practices, integration of industry, education and research, access and diversity in higher education, leadership, and the assurance of learning.

At the keynote sessions, Prof. Sanjay Sarma, dean of the Asia School of Business, and Shuji Itatani, senior engineer at Daikin Industries LTD. In Japan, pointed out in the speech titled Artificial Intelligence: A Friend not a Foe that business schools should comform to the developing of trend of science and technology, and be flexible to respond to changing infulences; under the topic of Leading Boldly, Prof. Harivansh Chaturvedi, director at Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, India, and Prof. Rosmini Omar, dean of Azman Hashim International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, discussed the new trend of international accreditation and the leading role that business schools play in their development.

At the session of roundtable discussion, Liu Yajun introduced to Lily Bi, president and CEO of AACSB, Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific of AACSB, and Guodong Xu, regional head of East Asia of AACSB, as well as other delegates from mainland China LUSMs development feature and progress in AACSB accreditation, and provide constructive suggestions on how to give full play to the role of accreditation as a model for business schools overall talent training and better carry out future work based on international accreditation.

Lily Bi, Geoff Perry and Guodong Xu highly recognized the active efforts made by LUSM in its AACSB construction process, and congratulated the School for earning the accreditation through a certificate awarding ceremony.

The AACB AP Conference is a high-end platform for business schools in the Asia Pacific region learning accreditation trends, exchanging experiences, and sharing perspectives. Currently, the number of AACSB membership institutes in the Asia Pacific region is over 400, providing the “Asia Pacific experiences” and practice support for the innovative development of business education. LUSM was listed as AACSB member in 2013, and officially embarked on the accreditation journey in 2017. The School conducted PRT onsite visit in April 2023 and earned initial accreditation in July 2023. As one of the members and the accredited institution of AACSB, LUSM will continue to align itself with advanced peers, strengthen its feature and promote the assessment of international accreditation, and continuously fulfill its commitment to the sustainable development of responsible business and management education for the Asia Pacific.
