Re-accreditated by AMBA, LUSM Earns 5-Year Validity

On March 12th, 2018, the Association of MBAs (hereinafter AMBA) officially announced that School of Management, Lanzhou University (hereinafter LUSM) has earned the re-accreditation of AMBA for 5 years.

On September 11th and 12th, 2017, the assessment panel of AMBA has made on-site visits of Lanzhou University (hereafter LZU) and conducted accreditation for the MBA program portfolio at LUSM. The panel members are: Prof. Philip McLaughlin, former Acting Dean and Executive Director of the KEDGE Business School, Prof. Zhongming Wang, AMBA Chief Representative in China, Prof. Che Ruhana Isa, Dean of Accountancy in the Faculty of Business and Accountancy from University of Malaya and Mr. Joseph Pilkington, Accreditation Officer of AMBA.  

During the two-day assessment, Prof. Wang Cheng, LZU’s president and Prof. Pan Baotian, LZU’s vice-president have had a meeting with the panel, and both of them were fully engaged in the sessions of inquiry and feedback. Full evaluation conducted by the panel on LUSM’s development strategy, program features, faculty assignment, curriculum design, student engagement, learning outcomes as well as facilitates and resources through discussions with school leaders and interviews with employers, students, alumni and faculties of MBA program portfolio. The panel experts appraised for LUSM’s progress on its management and its hard work on re-accreditation since it got AMBA accreditation for the first time in 2014. All the experts reached an unanimous agreement to grant LUSM a 5-year re-accreditation. In the mean time, constructive advice and suggestions have been proposed by panel experts on further development of MBA program portfolio of LUSM.

Achieving accreditation is not only a milestone on LUSM’s internationalization, but also a process of its continuous improvement and development. AMBA Re-accreditation is not only the test of systemically review and continuous improvement of LZU’s MBA program portfolio, but also of great significance on enhancing its MBA reputation and speeding its construction of high level business school. Since it first accredited in 2014, LUSM keep to chasing continuous improvement through optimized management mechanism by align with AMBA standards. Taking To develop leaders with global perspective, local commitment and social responsibility for western China and beyond”and as its mission, LUSM will continue its efforts and committed itself on striving to become a leading research-orientated management school of distinctiveness, inclusiveness and openness.

The Association of MBAs, founded in 1967, together with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), they are the so-called Three-Crown authoritative accreditations for business schools. AMBA is the impartial authority on MBA education and is committed to raising its profile and quality standards internationally for the benefit of business schools, students and alumni and employers.

By March, 2018, 29  business schools in mainland China and 2 in Hong Kong have accredited by AMBA.
