Recently, the Degree Committee and the Department of Education of Gansu Province announced the results of the selection of excellent doctoral and master degree thesis for 2021-2022 academic year. 22 doctoral dissertations and 32 master dissertations from Lanzhou University were selected. Among them, the thesis written by Fan Liqun, a 2020 EMBA student, under the guidance of Professor He Lihong, was selected as the provincial excellent master's thesis.

In addition, in the selection of LZU outstanding doctoral dissertations in the first half of 2022, 2 master papers from LUSM have been selected, which were written by Wang Li a MPA student of class of 2018(supervised by Associate Professor Huo Chunlong) and Fan Liqun an EMBA student of class of 2020(supervised by Professor He Lihong). The selection of excellent dissertations is an important sign to measure the quality of postgraduate education, and also an important measure to improve the quality assurance system and deepen the comprehensive reform of postgraduate education. The professional masters’ students of LUSM have rich work and practical experience, but due to the lack of systematic academic training, they have such weakness as insufficient ability to solve practical problems by using theoretical analysis, and insufficient ability to translate problem analysis into academic language, which leads to more difficulty in the thesis writing. In recent years, the school has continuously explored the reform and innovation of the professional degree postgraduate training system and mode, and strictly implemented the whole-process management by continuously strengthening enrollment and training management; set up a compulsory course of thesis writing to continue academic empowerment; strictly control the opening, mid-term review and pre-defense of the dissertation, and strictly control the process of the dissertation; strengthen the guidance and control of supervisors, and effectively improve the quality of talent training and academic thesis.

In the future, the school will continue to take the selection of excellent dissertations as an opportunity, give full play to the leading role of excellent dissertations, pay attention to the improvement of the innovation ability and practical application ability of professional degree graduates, and strive to develop more interdisciplinary talents for the country and region.
