LUSM MBA Students Achieved Great Results in the 15th “Peak Time” National Business Simulation Competition

From April 21 to 23, the final of the 15th “Peak Time” National Business Simulation Competition was held in Xidian University. Under the joint guidance of Prof. Zhang Ruoyong and Prof. Sun Junqin, the “Tianyun Team” composed of Ma Chao, Lei Xing, Li Chunjiang and Liu Yuqi, the LUSM students of Class 5, 2022 MBA, won the second prize of the national award. This competition is also the first time that LUSM MBA students entered the national finals.

The event originated from the globally renowned Nordic business simulation competition Peak Time (now renamed Cesim Elite). The Nordic Simulation Teaching Alliance Centre hosted the Global Finals. The competition requires the application of theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to solve practical problems of enterprise development in a simulated competitive market environment. A total of 1700 teams from nearly 170 institutions have signed up for this competition. After multiple rounds of selection in the preliminary and final rounds, 63 teams have finally emerged and stood on the stage of the national finals.

The competition consists of four stages: preliminary, semi-final, national final and global event. The preliminary and semi-final of the China region are held online, and the national finals are composed of three competition stages: simulation competition, on-site English team introduction, and commercial demonstration & defense. Senior judges from prestigious universities and corporate executives asked questions and commented on students during business demonstrations and defense sessions. Under the joint guidance of Prof. Zhang Ruoyong and Prof. Sun Junqin, all team members overcame challenges and made full use of professional knowledge such as strategic management, accounting, and financial management to fully prepare for the competition. With excellent analytical and decision-making ability, and teamwork spirit, LUSM students fully demonstrated their spirit of unremitting struggle and hard work on the stage of Peak Time. Finally, the team won the national second prize, and Prof. Zhang Ruoyong was awarded the title of Outstanding Advisor.

Since the Peak Time event was introduced to China in 2008, 14 national competitions have been successfully held, attracting tens of thousands of students from more than 300 universities across the country. The competition is committed to improving students’ comprehensive application of business skills and soft skills, mobilizing students’ subjective learning initiative, integrating professional knowledge of business management, and using international excellent teaching resources to benefit more institutions and students. It has become a well-known international business simulation competition in China.
