From 18 to 25 September 2016, EMBA student of School of Management, Lanzhou University had their study tour in Eastern US. The destinations of second stage are Harvard University and West Point. From west to the east, going through a week’s wonderful tour and study, the task of second stage study has completed successfully.

Harvard University is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is one of the famous Ivy League universities. 8 US presidents have come from Harvard; over a hundred Nobel Prize winners have worked or studied here. Harvard University enjoys high academic status and has a wide range of influence worldwide in many fields such as literature, medicine, law and business.

One of the most important tasks of this tour was for EMBA students to study related course at Harvard Business School, which all the students were looking forward to. Standing in Harvard, what you can experience is not only the old buildings, but the free and open atmosphere. Harvard Business School is like a pearl sited on the bank of Charles facing Boston across the river. With its lines of building, beautiful scenery, and vast area, Harvard Business School is no doubt the model of world business education.

The courses provided by Harvard Business School like Business Model Innovation and Strategy in Digital Era, Strategy for Chinese Enterprises to Create and Maintain Competitive Advantage, Leadership in Subversive Era, Megadata-A New Tool for Innovation, Productivity and Increase were full of wisdom and have not only shared with EMBA students from Lanzhou University some forefront knowledge and information of world business study and practice, but given them a chance to listen to the course taught by first-class professors from first-class business school. Days of full time study has left a deep impression on students.

The visit to West Point was also an inspiring tour. Founded in 1802, West Point has not only trained famous generals and leaders like General Patton, General MacArthur and President Eisenhower, but cultivated many talents in business field. According to statistics, many senior professional managers of world top 500 companies were graduated from West Point since World War Two. By listening to the introduction of history, culture, and environment of West Point, students from Lanzhou University had a better understanding of it and discussed topics like leadership and execution taking the importunity.

With the successful completion of second stage task, the 2016 EMBA overseas visiting has drawn to an end. The returning students all agreed that the trip was fruitful and was an eyes broadening, knowledge increasing, thoughts enlightening, wisdom exchanging and friendship establishing trip, which is precious and unforgettable.
