LUSM’s Team won the Championship of ACCA 2017 Job-Hunting Competition (North China Region)

On May 6, 2017, the 14th ACCA Job-Hunting Competition (North China Region) was held in Beijing. After fierce competition, the team from School of Management, Lanzhou University has won the championship.   

Since the launching in March, there are more than 920 ACCA students registered to the competition in North China Region. The School of Management, as the active participant, has attached priority to the current competition and assigned Prof. Jia Mingqi as the supervisor for the team, composed of Cao Kun, Li Lu, Xu Xueqian and Bi Jiayu. The competition involved a series of tests, including online English test, English case analysis, job-hunting training camp and the on-site speech. LUSM’s team finally won the first place in North China region, the team of Xi'an International Studies University the 2nd, and the team of Tianjing University of Finance and Economics and the team of Central University of Finance and Economics tied for the 3rd. On July 14, the 1st and 2nd team will attend the national competition in Beijing.

The case in the final match is provided by School of Management, Fudan University, designed to check the abilities of financial management and long-term strategic thinking by showing the issues faced by a listed education training company. The judges are from ACCA partners, such as Zhao Yizhi, the energy and resource audit partner from Ernst & Young Hua Ming; Liang Daming, the COO of audit from KPMG China; Yang Hui, partner of M&A from PWC China; Zhang Hong, the director of project control from Daimler China; Li Xiankai, the partner from Lee & Lee Associates; and Xu Zesen, the CCO from 9Fbank. Among them, 5 are the senior ACCA members. 

Background:

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is one of the largest international accountants associations. The ACCA Job-Hunting Competition is famous for its competition design, i.e. simulating the business and social environment, testing the overall abilities. It has been held for 14 years, with the purpose of building an efficient and targeted job-hunting guide platform. The winners will not only be awarded bonus, while all competitors will be offered internship from Ernst & Young, PWC, KPMG, Daimler, Lee & Lee Associates, and so on. The ACCA program in LUSM started in 2013, with 211 registered students now. The curriculum includes not only the general courses designed for accounting majors, but also 14 specially designed courses by the ACCA headquarter in the UK. The program is market-oriented. Graduates will be awarded the Bachelor degree on Management, and the diploma of Accountancy.
