Delegates of LUSM Attended 2019 AMBA APAC Conference and the First Strategic Development Seminar of BGA Member
During 13-16 November 2019, Prof. Wensheng He, Dean, Xuliang Miao, associate dean and Yanhai Zhao, director of international accreditation office of School of Management, Lanzhou University (LUSM) were invited to attend 2019 AMBA APAC Conference and the First Strategic Development Seminar of BGA Member held in Chengdu, China. The AMBA APAC Conference brought together almost 100 participants from more than 30 business higher education institutions and invited over 20 experts, scholars, representatives in political and business circle from Britain, Japan and China were invited to make keynote speeches. The conference is rich in content with 11 topics, covering hot issues related to business education, such as The Practical Strategies on Business Education Upgrading, The Silk Rad Entrepreneurship Education Network, Digitization in Teaching and Learning Platforms, Designing and Implementing the Smart Business School and The Future of Leadership Development and Innovative Course Development etc. During the three-day conference, participants have had in-depth exchanges and warm discussions on the above issues.
During the conference, Prof. Wensheng He and Yanhai Zhao delivered keynote speeches and shared LUSM’s experiences in the Silk Rad Entrepreneurship Education Network and Innovative Course Development session respectively. Professor Wensheng He introduced the overall structure of LUSM and its innovative practices, such as the Success Plan, Demonstration Class for Student Leadership and Social Responsibility Training, International Summer School, Lanzhou Summit, etc., and described directions and fields of the School’s future development. Taking the course Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility as an example, Professor Yanhai Zhao explained the course’s positioning, learning goals and innovative practices in detail from the aspects of course challenges, design, case using and assignment.

On November 16th, the First Strategic Development Seminar of BGA Member attracted deans and directors who in charge of international accreditation from 36 universities. Prof. Zhongming Wang, AMBA’s International Advisor for China and chairman of Silk-Road Entrepreneurship Education Network (SREEN) and Zhejiang University's Global Entrepreneurship Research Center, hosted the seminar. Prof. Zhongming Wang introduced the vision and strategy of business school, curriculum and professional upgrading plan and nine principles and demonstrated the system and target strategy of BGA international accreditation, he also elaborated the BGA capacity-building plan on professional clarification, curriculum revision and action learning.

During the conference, the delegates also met and exchanged with prof. Andrew Main Wilson, CEO of AMBA&BGA, Prof. Andrew Lock, Chair of the International Accreditation Advisory Board and Trustee Director of the International Management Board, Prof. Zhongming Wang, International Advisor for China and Mr. George Iliev, China Director and Director of Development Markets at AMBA. They also communicated with facilitators and participants from Queensland University of Technology, Nagoya University of Commerce & Business, University of Macau, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Sun Yat-sen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tianjin University on the latest trend of AMBA and the progress made by LUSM in education quality upgrading and pilot school reforming.
Through the conference, the delegates have introduced the frontier concept and innovative practices of business education based on the B&R initiative, learned about the latest trend of BGA accreditation under strategic guidance, and also deepened the mutual trust with AMBA and peer business schools home and abroad. The successful completion of this visit has played a positive role in promoting the internationalization of MBA and business education.
