Delegate of LUSM Attended the 1st Meeting of PRME China Academic Committee: Establishing the PRME Chapter China
From May 28 to 30, the 1st Meeting of PRME China Academic Committee: Establishing the PRME Chapter China was held in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Associate professor ZHAO Yanhai, associate dean of LUSM was invited to attend.
At the meeting, Dr. Mette Morsing, the global head of Principles for Responsible Management Education of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC PRME), congratulated the establishment of PRME Chapter China. She pointed out in her speech that universities should not only cultivate innovative and practical talents with professional skills, but also have a mission to help prepare and inspire students to be ethical, innovative, and engaged leaders who positively impact the community. She hopes that through the initiative, Chinese business schools, management-related higher education institutions (HEIs), and universities will be better integrated into the global PRME community, and actively pursue sustainable development and sustainable transformation of management education in China.
Dr. YAO Wang, Vice-Chair of Western Returned Scholars Association, Secretary-General of Education Forum for Asia indicated in his speech that each individual is closely integrated with nature, we should strengthen social responsibility for achieving sustainable development.
Prof. WANG Yonggui, vice president of Capital University of Economics and Business, member of Education Monitoring Committee of MOE, and Discipline Evaluation Expert of the State Council expressed that the establishment of PRME Chapter China and the convening 1st Meeting of PRME China Academic Committee is a milestone in the development of high-quality education in China. It is bound to impact China's responsible management education and sustainable development education.
Associate professor ZHAO Yanhai was appointed a member of the PRME China Academic Committee. During the meeting, on behalf of Lanzhou University, he delivered a speech titled "Entrepreneurial Social Responsibility: experience from Lanzhou University in Western China", sharing the university’s practice and thinking on sustainable education, leadership, and social responsibility at the forum of the meeting.
As an advanced signatory of PRME, LUSM has been always adhered to the university’s motto of “constantly improving, blazing our own path”, and has been focused on PRME’s trends and progress. LUSM is committed to promoting regional sustainable development through methods such as international accreditation, high-level research on sustainable development, responsible management education, and diversified stakeholders’ interaction.

Launched in 2007, PRME is an initiative supported by Global Compact with a focus on promoting responsibility, ethics, and sustainable development in management education for a better world. To date, more than 860 HEIs have signed up to the PRME Initiative. In China, 23 HEIs are the signatories of PRME. LUSM signed up for the initiative in 2017 and keeps its status as an advanced signatory since 2019.
