The International Academic Conference on Government Performance Management and Leadership is initiated by the School of Management of Lanzhou University/Lanzhou University China Research Center for Government Performance Management, the Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University in the United States, and the Institute of Public Service at Waseda University in Japan, etc., in 2009. It is held biennially. The previous seven conferences have been held in various locations including Lanzhou, China, Portland, USA, Tokyo, Japan, Khon Kaen, Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The 8th conference, building upon the foundation of the previous seven conferences, will focus on several key issues related to government performance management and leadership, taking into account the latest advances in international public management research and trends in government governance practices worldwide. It aims to contribute wisdom to the improvement and sustainable development of government governance at a global level.

The working language during the conference GPML will be Chinese and English. English abstracts and papers are encouraged.
