The 2019 Deans Forum on Management Education Held in Lanzhou University
On September 15, the 2019 Deans Forum on Management Education was held in Lanzhou University, for the celebration of the 110th anniversary of LZU as well as the 15th anniversary of LUSM. More than 50 deans from well-known management schools at home and abroad gathered here to have profound discussions on “Management Education in the Dramatically Changing Era: New Opportunities and Challenges”. The LZU Vice President Xu Shengcheng, and Honorary Dean Bao Guoxian addressed the opening ceremony respectively.
Vice President Xu hoped that the further development of the management discipline in LZU could be promoted by the in-depth exchanges and mutual learnings among all deans present at the Forum, by bringing in some new ideas and information to promote the management related programs.
Honorary Dean Bao said that the Forum has been functioned as a platform for deans engaging in management education at home and abroad to learn from each other, an opportunity for interaction of educators from public administration and business administration in China, and a push for China’s education reform in the context of new era and new technology.
During the plenary session, 14 invited speakers have shared their thoughts on management education, including Dean Li Yuan from School of Economics and Management in Tongji University, Dean Yang Kaifeng from School of Public Administration and Policy in Renmin University of China, Dean Shen Kunrong from Business School in Nanjing University, Dean Sun Tao from Zhou Enlai School of Government in Nankai University, Dean Huo Baofeng from College of Management and Economics in Tianjin University, Dean Gregory Mosier from College of Business in University of Nevada, Reno, Dean Xu Erming from Business School in Shantou University, Vice President Wang yonggui from Capital University of Economics and Business, Dean Feng Gengzhong from School of Management in Xi’an Jiaotong University, Dean Kong Fanbin from School of Government in Nanjing University, Dean Zhang Wenguang from School of Government in Beijing Normal University, Dean He Wensheng from School of Management in Lanzhou University, and so on.
In the 3 sessions followed, 17 deans delivered their presentations focusing on the session themes of “the insights changing and ethical issues in management education”, “the reforming trend for management education in the context of globalization”, and “the innovation on curriculum system focusing on ability development in management education”.
The series of the Deans Forum is an important gathering held by LUSM. With more than 40 deans invited to attend for each one, the forum has become a brand for deans engaging in management education at home and abroad.
