Two Papers of LUSM Faculty Won Academic Contribution Award and Nomination Award on the 15th Birthday of Journal of Public Management
On 19-20 October, the Journal of Public Management held a seminar on its 15th birthday in School of International and Public Affairs, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Participants discussed responsibility positioning, ability pattern, ethics principles, quality evaluation and team construction of the reviewers of the journal and selected 11 Academic Contribution Award papers and 9 Nomination Award papers from 900 papers published in the journal since its founding. The selection was based on the average annual downloads and citations of papers. The paper written by LUSM Professor Guoxian Bao and Professor Xuejun Wang: “Public Value-Based Government Performance Governance: Origin, Structure and Research Questions” was awarded academic contribution prize and the paper of Professor Xuejun Wang and PhD student, Hong Zhang: “Research Approaches and Cutting-Edge Questions of Public Value (s)” won the nomination award.
Founded in 2004, the Journal of Public Management is one of the 22 category A journal in management science identified by Department of Management Science of National Natural Science Foundation of China and has been selected into the Source Journal Catalogue of Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) and The Guide to Chinese Core Journals. According to Annual Report for Chinese Academic Journal Impact Factors (2019), the journal’s impact factor is 7.235 ranking first in Chinese political journals and second in management journals.
Professor Bao and Professor Wang’s paper was published in the 2012 second issue of the journal. It raised public value-based theoretical framework of government performance governance for the first time and has been cited 265 times, the second in citation among all the papers published since the founding of the journal. The paper was reprinted in full by Xinhua Digest (issue 15, 2012), Public Administration of China Social Science Excellence (issue 8, 2012) and Political Science of China Social Science Excellence (issue 3, 2012) and won the first prize of the 13th Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science of Gansu Province and second prize of the 7th Outstanding Research Achievements in Humanism and Social science in Higher Institutions.
The Paper written by Professor Wang and Ms. Zhang was published by the journal in 2013 issue 2. It proposed a different approach in public value(s) research and has been cited 130 times, ranking 15 in citation among papers published by the journal since its founding and was reprinted in full by Public Administration of China Social Science Excellence (issue 8, 2013).
