Fruitful Results in National College Students Business Negotiation Competition
On November 9-10, the 2019 National College Students Business Negotiation Competition was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. 82 teams from 50 colleges and Universities in China has attended the activity. LUSM teams worked all the way through and won two first prizes (Team V-talk and Team Northwest Eagle) and a third prize (Team Populus). Xiaotong Liu, LUSM undergraduate student was awarded excellent negotiator, Hongtao Weng and Zhaofu Hong, LUSM faculty were awarded excellent instructors.
The competition was a 6-month long event composed of 5 segments: preliminary, university level breakthrough, region qualifying round, online competition and national finals. The cases used covered the fields as international technology trade negotiation, service contract negotiation and purchase negotiation. By involving in case discussions and analysis, students have updated their knowledge and improved their ability. In the integration simulation negotiation process, students were required to change their perspective in a short time to play different roles; in the knockout stage, students were only allowed to know the cases one hour before the competition, through which, students have been deeply aware that learning cannot only stay in understanding and memory, negotiation is not a zero sum game and a game of interest and skill entanglement, but a game of understanding how to use various skills to turn hostility into peace; by exchange of views, each side achieve their own ideal goals, build long-term friendship, and truly achieve the highest level of win-win.
The competition has also sublimated students’ concepts of cooperation, win-win and team spirit. When failed to advance into the next round, Team Populus used their professional advantages to collect, analyze data, and provide logistics support for the other two teams passionately, which showed quality of 110 years LZU and has won praises from teachers and students.
