The 20th National Seminar of Management Communication for Teaching was Successfully held

From July 23 to 25, the 20th National Seminar of Management Communication for Teaching, sponsored by National MBA Education steering Committee and hosted by LUSM, was successfully held in Lanzhou. More than 120 experts and scholars from over 80 MBA education institutions across the country attended the meeting.

On the morning of July 24th, the opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Yajun, party secretary of LUSM. Professor He Wensheng, dean of LUSM and member of the steering committee, delivered a speech. He welcomed all the teachers attending the seminar and briefly introduced characteristics of Lanzhou University and the achievements of discipline construction and education & teaching of the school. He believes that in promoting ideological and political construction of courses and new liberal arts, solving the problem of thought is more important than solving the problem of skills. MBA courses should not overemphasize skills and technology, but should pay attention to the edification and education integrated into business ethics, social responsibility and patriotism. Management communication courses have great potential in quality education and responsibility education. In her speech, professor Qian Xiaojun from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, said that it is a great pleasure to meet old and new friends in Lanzhou after two years due to the impact of COVID-19. She shared her thoughts on issues related to management communication in the internet era and complex international situation.

Four wonderful talks were delivered during the keynote speech session. Wei Jiang, dean of School of Management at Zhejiang University, first gave a speech titled "The Future Has Come, The Past Has Not Gone? Challenge of Management Communication Course”. He vividly used "three drops of blood" to lead to the reflection on the curriculum and faculty of business education, and believed that in the new era faculty needs to establish themselves as educators and shape new missions and responsibilities; Professor Feng Yunxia of Renmin Business School delivered a speech titled "The Integration of Knowledge and Practice and Management Communication Teaching". She shared her teaching principles and strategies in different projects starting from the logical relationship of faith, knowledge and practice. Pei Rong, Liu Pingqing and Zhao Erdong from Beijing Institute of Technology took the form of round table dialogue and shared the essence and trend of management communication course under the background of changes in business practice and learners with the theme of "Inheritance and Innovation: Changes and Invariance of Management Communication Teaching". As an enterprise guest, Mr. Fu Kangnian, member of the party committee and deputy general manager of Duzhe Publishing & Media Corporation shared the unchanged positioning and charm of Reader magazine since it was first published from the perspective of integrity and innovation, and introduced the changes and innovations made by the magazine in the digital era.

The panel sessions in the afternoon were held under the theme of "exchange of curriculum construction experience" and "exchange of teaching experience". In session 1, 2 and 4, Hao Jie, assistant professor of School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, gave a talk on “Exploration and Sharing of Eight Years of Teaching and Learning in Tsinghua University”; Wang Xuelian, associate professor of School of Economics and Management, Hebei University of Technology, “Cultivation of High-level Ability and Thinking to Solve Communication Problems -- Based on the Construction of Ladder-shaped Learning”; Li Gong, associate professor of School of Management, Zhejiang University of Technology, “A New Exploration of Case Teaching: ‘Questioning’ and ‘Acting’ Experience”; Jia Qiong, associate professor of Business School of Hohai University, “Selection of Communication Channel and Use of Strategy in New Media Era”; Wang Song, associate professor of the School of Management, Zhejiang University, “Vertical Communication and Horizontal Communication”; and Dr. Fu Weining, School of Management, Lanzhou University, “Thinking on Curriculum Design of Management Communication under New Situation”. In the third session, professor Zhang Ruoyong from LUSM hosted the discussion on curriculum construction of MBA Union of Northwest China. The speakers made lively interactive discussion with the participants.

In the closing ceremony, party secretary Liu Yajun thanked all the guests for their support. Professor Zhang Li from School of Management, Harbin Institute of Technology, made a concluding speech on behalf of the convener and all participating teachers. She highly praised and sincerely thanked LUSM for its successful holding of the conference after overcoming various difficulties. Finally, Dean He closed the conference by wishing the seminar even better at a new historical starting point!

On the morning of July 25, more than 50 teachers visited Tibet Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd and learned how the company took root in the plateau and go to the world from the aspects of corporate brand, core competence, sustainable development, cultural inheritance, scientific and technological innovation and employee care. The scholars had heated exchanges and discussions on social responsibility, product marketing, talent training and other issues during the visit.

As a brand annual meeting of the National MBA Education Steering Committee, the seminar was established early, has a wide range of participation and great influence. It has become a national platform for sharing and exchange among scholars engaged in teaching and research of management communication courses in colleges and universities.
