From May 14^th to 19^th, at the invitation of AMBA&BGA, He Wensheng, dean of LUSM, Bao Guoxian, honorary dean of LUSM, Wang Yanxia, youth faculty, and Fang Yan, director of general administration office, attended the AMBA&BGA Global Conference for Deans and Directors (hereafter “the Conference”) held in Seville, Spain. And during the conference, the delegates visited partner institutions in Spain.

The Conference is consists of 14 keynote speeches and 12 breakout sessions, which gathering about 400 delegates from over 100 business schools and management schools sharing their insight and practical experiences of the frontier academic topics such as the application of Emerging technologies ( Chat GPT and the Metaverse) and their impact on business schools, research and insight for responsible management education and sustainble development, and the diversity, equivalence and inclusion of business schools.

The special showcasing session, themed on “Distinctiveness of Chinese business schools as a foundation for international strategic partnerships”, presided over by prof. Wang Zhongming, AMBA&BGA International Adviser for China, and Mr. George Ilieve, MBA, Accreditation China Director of AMBA&BGA, attracts delegates and participants from more than 30 Chinese business schools within the AMBA&BGA Network. At the invitation of moderators, prof. He Wensheng introduced LUSM’s education tenets of “to learn management with due tolerance and open-mindedness, an insight for eternal wisdom and expertise so as to serve society”, and the initiatives, features and impact of its business education and its international cooperation and accreditation.

During the Conference, Andrew Main Wilson, CEO of AMBA&BGA, and Steef Van de Velde, chair of AMBA&BGA International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB) granted certificates of AMBA&BGA joint accreditation for LUSM.

During the Conference, Prof. He Wensheng met with José Martínez, dean of the Pompeu Fabra University Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM), communicated cooperation contents that about to launch. In addition, delegates from LUSM (hereafter “the delegation”) also communicated with chairs, CEO, accreditation experts of AMBA&BGA and peers from home and abroad, to understand the key points of AMBA&BGA accreditation criteria and the development trend of MBA program, which help to gain rich experience for the School’s work on international accreditation and the future development of its MBA portfolio.

From May 18^th and 19^th, at the invitation of UPF-BSM, the delegation visited the Consulate-General of PRC in Barcelona and and UPF-BSM. On the afternoon of the 18^th, Zhu Jingyang, consul general of Consulate-General of PRC in Barcelona met with the delegation. The both parts discussed on the promoting of the higher education cooperation between China and Spain. The meeting was accompanied by Lin Chuanping, chief counselor of UPF-BSM “China Global Strategy”, chairperson of the General Association of Overseas Chinese in Spain, Chen Feifei, secretary general of the General Association of Overseas Chinese in Spain, and Zhou Qianying, project principal of “China Global Strategy”.

On the morning of the 19th, LIorenc Bagur, dean of UPF-BSM, Josep Maria Gali, deputy dean of Business Strategic Cooperation, Rodrigo Cetina, associate dean of Education and Teaching Affairs, Agueda Quiroga, Head of International Development, as well as Lin Chuanping, Chen Feifei, and Zhou Qianying, had in-depth discussions with the delegation on mutual visits, collaborative research, and short-term training projects, and reached an agreement on promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two schools for common development. LIorenc Bagur and He Wensheng have signed the letter of intent on cooperation on behalf of both institutions, and will sign formal cooperation agreement based on the letter in the near future.

Through the visit, LUSM further strengthened exchanges with well-known business schools at home and abroad, expanded the scope of international cooperation, and gained valuable experience in business education theory and practice from numerous domestic and foreign institutions. It has a positive promoting significance for our School to understand the latest trends in business education, future trends in international accreditation, key areas of innovation and entrepreneurship education in the new era, and the application of digital teaching in MBA education, which provides new development ideas for the School's continuous improvement and innovation in strategic development, international cooperation and accreditation, and the development of professional degree programs.

[Background Information]

Together with AACSB and EQUIS, AMBA&BGA is one of the triple crown accreditations acknowledged worldwide. LUSM earns AMBA accreditation and re-accreditation in 2014 and 2017. In 2022, LUSM successfully organized AMBA re-accreditation and conducted its BGA initial accreditation (golden status), making the School the first institution of higher education earned in Northwest China. By the end of April 30^th 2023, a total of 42 Chinese business schools earned AMBA accreditation.

UPF-BSM, founded in 1993, is the most famous managemnt in business education in Spain accredited by AMBA and EQUIS. As a bridger between China and Spain, the “China Global Strategy” was initiated and launched in November 2021 by UPF-BSM, with the aim to serve the two countries’ cooperation in fields of culture, education, trade, science and technology. Based on the project, LUSM and UPF-BSM will conduct in-depth cooperation in the field of faculty and student exchange, joint education program. and short-term training etc.
