On July 4th, the Unveiling Ceremony of Silk-Road Entrepreneurship Education Network (SREEN) Lanzhou Platform & The 2nd Symposium on Accreditation and SREEN in Western China was held at Room 201 of Run Run Shaw Science Building of LZU. The symposium was sponsored by SREEN and Zhejiang University Global Entrepreneurship Research Center, organized by LUSM, and guided by Gansu Committee of Teaching Guidance, Accreditation and Textbook Construction for Management Programs. Gou Xiaohua, vice president of LZU, Wang Zhongming, director of SREEN and Zhejiang University Global Entrepreneurship Research Center, Xiao Yangao, associate dean of the school of management and economics of UESTC, Chi Gang, chief of the office of international cooperatin and exchange, leadership team and faculty representatives of LUSM, and representatives from 10 colleges and universities in Gansu attended the unveiling ceremony and the symposium. The unveiling ceremony was presides over by Liu Yajun, CPC party secretary of LUSM. 

On behalf of LZU, Gou Xiaohua delivered speech at the ceremony. She expressed her welcome to all the participants, congratulations on the establishment of the SREEN Lanzhou Platform in LZU, and expressed her gratitude and respect to Professor Wang Zhongming who has been committed to the construction of the SREEN. He praised the excellent achievements of LUSM in recent years in international accreditation and innovation and entrepreneurship, and stressed the importance of the SREEN for the construction of high-level university and the development of MBA education of LZU. She said that LZU will give full play to its advantages in disciplines, integrate the resources of the whole university and the region, commit to the entrepreneurship education and international talent cultivation work, and make greater contributions to the  economic and social development in western China.

Wang Zhongming, in the report themed on “New Practice and New Arena, New Advantages and Development”, introduced the background of the development of SREEN, and reviewed the development and breakthroughs of majors in management and economics under the strategy of high level internationalization in Gansu. He pointed out that the network is of extraordinary significance to colleges and universities in Gansu in the field of their development strategy, orientation and level, education direction, discipline duilding and the construction of faculty team and sample courses. In particular, prof. Wang also proposed the prospects in the fields of capacity building, impact, SREEN, and course collaboration for 2023.

At the unviling session, Wang Zhongming and He Wensheng signed the agreement to jointly build the SREEN Lanzhou Platform, and under the witness of Liu Yajun, Xiao Yangao, He Wensheng and all other participants, Gou Xiaohua and Wang Zhongming unveiled the Lanzhou platform.

Xiao Yangao, on behalf of the SREEN China platforms, introduced and shared the situation, practices, and considerations of the construction of SREEN Chengdu platform with the attending guests. He pointed out that SREEN is a pioneering initiative in the new era of business education, which needs to uphold green concepts and achieve sustainable development of business education through collaborative learning and entrepreneurial integration.

Liu Yajun, on behalf of LUSM, expressed his gratitude to LZU for its concern and support for LUSM’s development and consuruction. He belived that the the establishment of Lanzhou platform would promote regional cooperation and connection, providing impetus and sources for the development of business education. LUSM will continue work with colleges and universities in Gansu on the work of international accreditation and innovation and entrepreneurship education, to create ecological network of business accreditation and innovative cooperation in western China.

He Wensheng concludes the session. He stated in his summary that high-quality and sustained opening up and internationalization are important paths for Chinese universities' schools of business and management to achieve leapfrog catch-up. He called on colleges and universities' in Gansu to uphold the concept of openness, take SREEN Lanzhou platform as a high-quality internationalization strategic carrier, and take innovation and entrepreneurship education as a breakthrough and a lead, work together to inherit the advanced concepts of business education, and create a new model of business education.

During the discussion, participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on “business accreditation in western China” and “innovation and entrepreneurship education”. Leaders and discipline heads from Lanzhou University, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Lanzhou University of Technology, Gansu Agricultural University, Northwest Minzu University, Gansu University of Political Science and Law, HeXi University and Longdong University introduced the basic situation of their own, and shared their insights and experience around course upgrade, innovation and entrepreneurship education and international accreditation. They all convinced that the symposium provides an exchange platform for mutual learning among colleges and universities across the province, and offers valuable practical experience for further reflection on the mission and value of business management education, the construction of innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities and talent cultivation models, the optimization of the upgrading of discipline, faculty and staff, and curriculum systems, and the exploration of the enhancement of internationalization capabilities of schools of business and management in western China.

Through the unveiling ceremony and the symposium, LZU strengthened the friendly interaction with fraternal institutions in Gansu, making us futherly clarified the direction of the enhancement and development of internationalization strategy. Taking the unveil of SREEN Lanzhou platform, LUSM will work with all the colleges and universities, through joint efforts, to build Lanzhou platform an international high-end entrepreneurship education platform that radiates west China and connects to regions and countries along the Belt and Road.

Backgound Information

Founded in 2014, the SREEN is a cooperative network that takes 287 AMBA accredied business and management schools, surrounds the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and focuses on cooperating with top colleges and universities along the the Belt and Road to carry out entrepreneurship education and innovation research. Since its founding, 8 international conferences have been held in the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, which have had a wide social impact. The SREEN Secretariat and International Research Institute are located at the Global Entrepreneurship Research Center of Zhejiang University, and currently 24 have settled worldwide.
