A Major Project of Prof. WANG Xuejun Approved by NSSFC
On December 12, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences unveiled the list of major projects approved under the NSSFC for 2024. Notably, the project headed by Prof. WANG Xuejun of LUSM, titled “Research on Government Functions in Developing New Quality Productive Forces” was approved. This event marks a significant milestone in advancing the high-quality development of public management discipline.
Prof. WANG Xuejun's project targets "accelerating the development of new quality productive forces", probing into the role and function of the government, and tackling the pivotal question of "how to better leverage the role of the government to establish new production relations compatible with new quality productive forces, thereby promoting their improvement". This project provides scientific theoretical guidance and an action blueprint for transforming government functions to facilitate the growth of new quality productive forces. The subproject leaders include Prof. BAO Guoxian and Prof. LANG Mei from Lanzhou University, Researcher ZHANG Ding'an from the Chinese Public Administration Society, Researcher DONG Yu from Tsinghua University, and Researcher QU Shenning from the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The major projects of the NSSFC are China's most prestigious research initiatives in philosophy and social sciences, featuring substantial funding, fierce competition, and ultimate authority. They serve as a key benchmark for evaluating the overall research capability and core competitiveness of higher institutions' philosophy and social science programs. The approved projects are in line with contemporary themes and critical issues, showcasing the School's capacity to tackle major national research and serve Party and national strategies.
