To further promote the combination of AACSB international accreditation and curriculum construction, and in line with the principles of "promote the development by the accreditation" and "embed process into accreditation", on the afternoon of November 4th, the workshop on AACSB Accreditation Training and Curriculum Construction (phaseⅠ) was held in LUSM. The workshop was presided over by Yanhai Zhao, director of international accreditation office and attended by members from course teaching teams on organizational behavior, human resource management, accounting principles and intermediate financial accounting.

The workshop is divided into three parts that are international accreditation training, curriculum presentation and discussion. The staff from international accreditation office introduced the general knowledge and standards of AACSB as well as the construction process and specific operation of assurance of learning (AOL) in the first place, then tested all the participants on the training content.

In presentation session, on behalf of course teaching teams on intermediate financial accounting, organizational behavior and human resource management, Lei Wang, Ruoyong Zhang and Yong Zhang respectively introduced in detail from the aspects of each course’s design, learning goals and assessment methods, and shared the teaching experience with specific cases. Prof. Zhonghe Tian made a comment on the presentation. He pointed out that the course teaching teams of LUSM is now relatively independent from each other in the course design. In the next step, we should clarify the responsibilities of all parties and strengthen the combination of the course design and accreditation requirements.

During the discussion, participants sheared their suggestions on the integration of accreditation and curriculum construction. According to the discussion opinions, AACSB working team should actively organize workshops to strengthen the accreditation publicity. On the basis of AACSB requirements, the faculty should take learning goals (LGS) as the benchmark, make clear the target orientation, content, teaching process, knowledge points and assessment methods of the courses they teach, then to establish a more complete teaching system and framework with the teaching team, and strengthen the consistency of course construction for each degree program. By doing so can we avoid the deviation of education results caused by the randomness of teaching contents and the diversity of assessment methods.

AOL is an important part of AACSB certification, and also the way to promote education quality. The workshop clarified the work direction of accreditation team, combed the division of responsibilities between faculty and course teaching team, deepened the understanding of the general knowledges of AACSB accreditation, and also a vital catalytic role in promoting course construction and international accreditation.
