Prof. Bao Guoxian Attended the Symposium on the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee
On April 22, 2024, a symposium on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee (hereafter “the Committee”) was held at Tsinghua University. The meeting conducted a comprehensive review and summary of the Committee’s development history and remarkable achievements over the past three decades, while also envisioning the promising future prospects for both the Committee and China’s MBA education sector. Prof. Bao Guoxian, LUSM Honorary Dean and member of the 4th-5th Committee, was invited to attend the meeting.
Tang Jiwei, Level I Bureau Rank Official of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and MOE’s Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education, Yang Qiubo, Chief of Office of Education Quality attended the meeting. Lin Gongshi, former Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the meeting. Zhao Chunjun, the former Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University and Vice Chairman of the 1st-4th Committee, along with Wu Shinong, the former Vice President of Xiamen University and Vice Chairman of the 1st-4th Committee. Additionally, more than 50 members from the 1st-6th Committee were present. It was chaired by Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Secretary-General of the 5th-6th Committee.
Tang Jiwei, on behalf of the Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and MOE’s Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education, congratulated the Committee on its 30th anniversary and paid tribute to the contributions made by the former members to promote the high-quality development of MBA education in China. He stated that MBA education serves as the benchmark for China’s postgraduate education and professional degree education, and it should strive for excellence during the crucial stage of strengthening education in our nation. He emphasized that the establishment of the committee represents a significant organizational change and mechanism innovation aimed at fostering high-level applied talents in China’s postgraduate education field. It is necessary for the Committee to collaborate with educational authorities to facilitate the high-quality development of MBA education.
Bai Chongen, Vice-Chairman of the 6th Committee and Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, made a speech on behalf of the Committee. He conducted a comprehensive review of the Committee’s development and accomplishments over the past three decades, summarized the advancements made in China’s MBA education, and elucidated the challenges and pathways encountered during its growth. He stated that the Committee has been implementing the concept of learning advantages from others and cultivating distinctive characteristics, thereby facilitating the development of MBA education in accordance with its inherent principles. Moreover, it strives to provide support and services to meet the needs of both national economy and social construction. He emphasized that the Committee will adopt an interdisciplinary approach as the development path for MBA education in the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial changes. By aligning China’s MBA education closely with science, technology, and engineering, it aims to provide impetus for scientific, technological, and industrial innovations while assuming a leadership role. Furthermore, it will establish an ecosystem for MBA education that fosters the creators of new quality productive forces with the spirit of scientists and entrepreneurs, serving the national innovation-driven high-quality development strategy.

The Committee holds a promising development prospect. Former members and attendees engaged in profound exchanges during the meeting, collectively expressing their optimistic outlook for the growth of the Committee and China’s MBA education. They also conveyed their confidence in collaboratively guiding and promoting high-quality and sustainable development of China’s MBA education, while supporting the cultivation of national composite management innovation talents.
