On Nov. 2, 3 delegates from College of Business and Economics of Western Washington University (CBEWWU) paid a visit to LUSM, namely Dean Scott Young, Associate Dean Wing Fok, and Prof. George Zhang who is also the “Cuiying Distinguished Professor” of LZU. The LUSM Party Secretary Yao Chengfu, Associate Dean Wang Xuejun, Wu Jianzu and Miao Xuliang, and staff from International Cooperation Office met the delegation and discuss details for further cooperation.

Yao Chengfu extended the warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of LUSM. He reviewed the past cooperation on faculty exchanges and overseas trainings between both sides, and expressed gratitude towards CBSWWU for its long-term support, especially to George Zhang who devoted himself to the development of the research team in LUSM as the academic leader. Scott Young thanked LUSM for its invitation and arrangement, and introduced CBEWWU briefly from its latest rankings, faculty structure, student development and placement, etc. He showed his determination to further promote the internationalization in the College and hoped that both sides could explore new areas for cooperation on the basis of the current foundations.

During the meeting, all participants from both sides carried out extensive discussions on the ways to facilitate the cooperation and reached consensus on following areas: 1) launching the joint research on other advantageous fields of CBEWWU, such as business sustainability and green management, by learning the successful experience of the model of the current research team on management decision and data science in LUSM, aiming to cross the disciplines of business administration and public administration; 2) stabilizing the faculty exchanges between 2 sides, and involving more faculties from other discipline directions besides operations management for more join research; 3) continuing the cooperation on overseas studies for Executive MBAs of LUSM; 4) promoting the exchanges between students by hosting a joint summer program, offering joint degree program, and so on.

The CBEWWU and LUSM have worked with each other for several years, and achieved fruitful results on joint research, faculty exchanges, overseas trainings, etc. By the current visit of the delegation, both sides would prepare to carry out the full-scale cooperation in the near future.
