LUSM Held the 20th Anniversary Conference & Forum on Discipline Construction and High-quality Development of Public Administration and Business Administration in the New Era

On the morning of June 22, LUSM 20th Anniversary Conference & Forum on Discipline Construction and High-quality Development of Public Administration and Business Administration in the New Era were held in Chengguan Campus. Leaders at all levels, experts and scholars, people from all walks of life, alumni and representatives of faculty and students of more than 1,000 people attended the meeting.

YANG Shanlin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of School of Management, Hefei University of Technology, WANG Shouyang, Academician of the World Academy of Sciences and Professor of School of Economics and Management, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, DING Huang, Co-convener of Public Administration Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and Distinguished Professor of Wuhan University, WANG Yonggui, member of Business Administration Discipline Evaluation Group of State Council Academic Degrees Committee and President of Zhejiang Gongshang University, YAN Jirong, professor of Peking University and other guest representatives of nearly 100 universities at home and abroad, GUO Tiankang, Vice-chairman of Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, Bai Jiangping, Deputy Director-general of Gansu Provincial Department of Education and other relevant representatives of the province, as well as MA Xiaojie, Secretary of LZU CPC Committee, YAN Chunhua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of LZU, Sha Yongzhong, Vice President of LZU, LI Pengjie, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee and other leaders of the university, functional departments and colleges, and the members of the team of LUSM, all the serving faculty and staff, representatives of the retired faculty members, representatives of the students and alumni attended the meeting. It was chaired by LIU Yajun.

On behalf of LZU, YAN Chunhua extended his congratulations to all the faculty members, students, and alumni of LUSM. GUO Tiankang, representing the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, acknowledged the manifold accomplishments achieved by LUSM during its two decades of development. He expressed his expectation for both LZU and LUSM to fully leverage their demonstrative and leadership roles in propelling high-quality advancement in higher education within the province. DING Huang, representing the Public Administration Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, and YI Zhihong, former Vice President of Renmin University of China and representing the Business Administration Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, conveyed their well-wishes to the faculty, students, and alumni of LUSM and expressed their sincere hopes for the future development of the school.

YAN Jirong, Dean of the School of Government at Peking University, represented the peer institutions in extending sincere congratulations on the achievements of the School over the past 20 years. Lily BI, President of AACSB International, the international accreditation organisation and head of partner institutions, Andrew Wilson, CEO of AMBA&BGA, WANG Zhongming, Director of Silk-Road Entrepreneurship Education Network, Gregory Mosier, Dean of the College of Business of University of Nevada, Reno, and Regula Altmann, Dean of the School of Business, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, sent congratulatory videos and letters.

BAO Guoxian, Honorary Dean of LUSM, reviewed the development history of the school since its establishment in his speech, while HE Wensheng presented the current status and notable achievements of the School, along with its future development direction. LIU Yajun, who chaired the meeting, stated that the School is committed to fulfilling its mission of nurturing talents for the Party and will strive to continuously cultivate outstanding management talents for both the country and the western region. LI Zhiyuan, Associate Professor of LUSM, CHEN Xiangyi, Chairman of the Board of Beijing Sorghum Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., and ZHOU Tao, a 2019 undergraduate student and a 2023 PhD candidate, spoke as representatives of the faculty, alumni, and students respectively.

The conference hosted an award ceremony to acknowledge the exceptional contributions of faculty members and retired faculty towards the advancement of the School, education and pedagogy, scientific research, service provision, and security measures. After the conference, a Deans Forum was convened to explore the deep integration of artificial intelligence and management education. The Roundtable Forums focused on the themes of “Empowering Management Education Reform and Innovation with Artificial Intelligence” and “Management Practices in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”. On the afternoon of the day, the “Building and Promoting High-Quality Development of Public Administration and Business Administration Disciplines in the New Era” was held.

In the eight parallel forums, 89 guest representatives from universities across China focused on the four themes of Vision and Path for Advancing the High-Quality Development of Public Management Disciplines in the New Era, “Discipline Construction and Innovative Talent Cultivation Model”, “Discipline Construction and High-Level Scientific Research” and “Opportunities and Challenges of Discipline Construction in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, they engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the issues and formidable challenges confronting the development of public administration and business administration disciplines in China, while also exchanging valuable insights and successful strategies for advancing the establishment of management disciplines and cultivating high-quality talent at various universities.

An alumni development forum was also held during the Conference, in which ZHANG Liqun, an alumni of the the grade of 1980 majoring in economics and management and a researcher of the Development Research Center of the State Council, made a report on Analysis and Prospect of the Current Economic Situation, and Wang Laihong, the Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Lanzhou Investment Promotion Bureau and the Director General of the Bureau, was invited to make a promotion of Lanzhou citys investment promotion policy. Alumni discussed the topic of "Alumni Economy Promoting Regional High Quality Development. A donation ceremony was also held during the forum.

The evening of the ceremony day witnessed the gala of the 20th anniversary of LUSMs establishment, where leaders, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students gathered for a joyful reunion to celebrate two decades of remarkable achievements.
