Editor's Note: Our International MBA student, Yang Qing, went to HHL-Leipzig Graduate School of Management in 2013 as an exchange student. After the qualification review and interview, Yang Qing has been admitted to the Europe’s top and world-class Rotterdam School of Management, enrolling in the International MBA program, and become our first to enter RSM. The following text is Yang Qing’s feeling when newly entering RSM.

I began my life in Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) with one week-long freshman orientation. In the past one and half years, I have experienced the LUSM freshman orientation, HHL freshman orientation and RSM freshman orientation. Each orientation reflected the different national culture and university culture.

RSM, located in Europe's largest port city of Rotterdam, is ranked first in Netherlands and among Europe's top ten business schools. Jan Tinbergen, the first Nobel economics prize laureate, is from RSM. At the same time, RSM’s academic level has been in the first place in Europe and the fourth in the world for a long period; especially the number of articles published in top journals has been far ahead.
Each world-renowned business school has its own characteristic and culture, and the highlight of Rotterdam School of Management is its internationalization and openness. Once the world's first port city, Rotterdam has become an open, international and inclusive city. Under this influence, RSM has been working hard to establish itself as an international, open and inclusive business school. Meanwhile, the culture of RSM also emphasizes teamwork, sharing and self-breakthrough.

As one of 109 RSM freshmen, I felt the strong internationalization. The 109 freshmen come from 35 countries of the world. There are students from neighboring South Korea, Malaysia, and even far from South Africa while the faculties of RSM are also diverse, from different parts of the world, which makes RSM like a small United Nations. Meanwhile, 109 students are from various industry sectors, ranging from management consulting, finance, marketing to engineering technology. Everyone gathers at RSM, where cultures and ideas conflict, and finally evolve into the sublimation of concept. We often hear RSM people say,” Everything is possible”, and RSM people repeatedly emphasize to accept the differences of the world with an open mind.

RSM International MBA curriculum is very compact, which is divided into four short semesters in a year's time. Five courses will be taken in each semester, and two more courses are taken for finance / MBA dual degree. The curriculum is very stressful and the curriculum assessment standard follows the relatively elimination principle that 10% of all students in each course will get full marks while there will also be 10% of students who fail the course. The competition is very intense. Except the regular international MBA program, there is also financial / MBA dual degree program. Among this year's 109 freshmen, only 10-11 students have enrolled in the Finance / MBA dual degree program with much more academic pressure than the international MBA program.

Students who are interested in RSM and hope to experience the international integration can try to apply RSM. RSM application is not so difficult, but it is not very simple. The key is that you must discover yours own advantages and reasons for choosing RSM. However, the most important is the bold attempt. Everything is possible.
